If you’re anything like me, you’re not praising God’s creation of your mind and body when you’re scared. You’re begging for them to be different.
“Why do I have this anxiety?”
“Why am I like this?”
“I feel so broken.”
“Are you sure you didn’t mess up God?”
“Why did You create me like this?”
Yet we find David praising God for his mind and body, while distressed. Isn’t that amazing?
He’s praising God for the creation of every cell, every tissue and every organ responsible for his fear.
How?
Because he knows who is responsible for his fear.
It is not his mind or body causing the darkness. It is satan. His body is merely alerting him to that danger.
Your body is not to blame for your fear (or whatever mental health struggle you’re dealing with right now). That is satan’s doing.
Your body and mind are simply doing what God designed them to do:
Alert you to the danger of the devil.
David knows who God is, and he knows who satan is. He knows who to blame for his fear, and he knows Who to praise to get him out of it.
So, the next time you’re struggling with fear, and feeling like you’re broken, remember this Psalm.
It is not your mind or body that are to blame, but the devil causing the darkness.
Your mind and body are a beautiful masterpiece of God, since He knit you together in your mother’s womb. They’re doing their job to keep you alive in this crazy world.
Instead, praise your Father in Heaven for His masterpiece, and let Him carry you out of this darkness you’re feeling.
I’m praying for you ♥
