Help for Your Stress – Grounding Techniques (1 of 3) (Part 7)

Let me introduce you to our third technique for turning off your stress: Grounding Techniques.

In this post, I want to introduce you to Grounding Techniques. It’s our third technique in a series of 3, that’s going to help you turn off your stress. Because you deserve to find peace in your mind and body.

This is the seventh in a series of posts called “Help for Your Stress”. In them, we’ll cover some of the best mental health resources (techniques) that can turn your stress off. While I know that ultimately you’re looking for healing, getting help today to at least find relief is worth it.

So let’s talk about our third technique.

Grounding Techniques

Grounding Techniques are a collection of techniques that help turn off high levels of stress. This includes anxiety, panic or anxiety attacks, trauma triggers, and even PTSD. They work at turning off your stress quickly and efficiently, often in just under 10 minutes. This allows you to find peace fast, and get back to your life.

Proving Your Safety

Grounding Techniques work by proving to your brain that you’re safe. Your stress is a response to the world around you. It’s your brain perceiving danger, then reacting accordingly. Grounding Techniques work to help your brain realize that you’re safe. This helps your brain shift you out of the state of stress (survival mode), back into the state of peace (Rest & Digest).

There are 2 ways to do this: from the inside out, and from the outside in.

Working With Your Brain

The first way they do this is by working with your brain. Think of this like working from the inside out. Your brain is your operating system, deciding how your body runs. It makes all the decisions for you, including the decision to be in this state of stress.

One of the ways Grounding Techniques works, is by working with you brain to convince it that you’re safe. This method uses psychological techniques, that help show your brain that you’re currently safe. Which helps it turn off your stress.

Working With Your Body (ie. Your Nervous System)

The second way they do this is by working with your body. Think of this like working from the outside in.

Another way Grounding Techniques works is by working with your body, to prove to your brain that you’re safe. This method uses physical techniques using your body, to prove to your brain that your body is actually safe right now. Which helps it turn off your stress.

Great for Immediate Relief

Grounding Techniques are here to help you turn off your stress immediately. They do this very efficiently, often giving you relief in less than 10 minutes. This is different than our first 2 techniques, which helped you release your emotions at the same time.

You can think of Grounding Techniques like your on-the-go companions. They’re designed to help you turn off your stress, so you can get back to your life. (Sometimes you’re in the middle of your life, and don’t have time to process your emotions.)

These techniques work great for those high levels of stress that knock you down mentally and emotionally. Which includes anxiety, high levels of overwhelm, panic or anxiety attacks, trauma triggers, and even PTSD. If you’re struggling with any of these things, Grounding Techniques can help you get back to your life quickly.
