Let me introduce you to the mental health techniques that can help you turn off your stress.

In this post, I want to introduce you to getting the right help for your stress. 

 

This is the first in a series posts called “Help for Your Stress”. In them, we’ll cover some of the best mental health resources (techniques) that can turn your stress off. While I know that ultimately you’re looking for healing, getting help today to at least find relief is worth it.

 

So let’s talk about what mental health resources can help turn off your stress.

Help for Your Stress

One of the fields in the mental health industry is the field of Somatics. It’s the study of, and resources that work with, your stress.


Somatics comes from the Greek word “Soma” which means body. “Somatics” means in the body. The field of Somatics is the study of, and help for, the mental health struggles that live in your body. 

 

Which is where your stress lives.

 

When you’re looking for help with your stress, you want to find resources that work with your body. And this is where Somatic Resources come in.

Somatic Resources

Somatic Resources are the collection of mental health techniques that professionals use to turn off your stress. Typically you’ll experience this in therapy or trauma coaching when you’re healing the pains of your past.

 

But you can also use them generically to turn off your stress in the present moment.

 

I’m going to introduce you to 3 of the best in this series, but know that there are many. Some you may have heard of, some might be new to you. The most important thing to remember, is to find the techniques that work best for you. This about you finding relief from your stress.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, Tapping)

Emotional Freedom Techniques, nicknamed “tapping”, is a fusion of psychology and acupressure. It guides you through saying specific phrases (the psychology piece), while tapping on acupressure points. EFT helps to turn off your stress, while releasing any emotions that your carrying with it.

 

In this business, you’ll find a Christian variation that adds Jesus’ perfect love and acceptance of you into the technique.

Inner Child Work Meditation

Inner Child Work is a meditation that helps you work through your emotions without feeling them so fully. It does this through something called “compartmentalization”. This is just a fancy way of saying that, you separate yourself from your pain. Which makes is easier to work through.

 

In this business, you’ll find a Christian variation that lets Jesus come into your meditation and hold you through that work.

Grounding Techniques

Grounding Techniques are a collection of techniques that help pull you out of a panic or anxiety attack. They help your brain realize that you’re safe, and don’t need to be in this state of panic or anxiety. All are incredibly gentle and effective, with most working in just a few minutes.
